Fallout Series 2 Finale Hides 4 Crucial Secrets Only Hardcore Fans Spotted

The episode made several major game references

Fallout’s second season has officially drawn to a close.

This second outing received slightly more criticism than its predecessor, with some viewers suggesting the show may have stretched itself too thin with its many branching storylines.

Personally, I disagree. I had a blast watching all eight episodes.

The Brotherhood of Steel’s storyline slightly occupied a tad too much of the first half of the season, but the finale provided a satisfying reason as for why.

That leads me nicely onto why we’re all here. The season two finale was dotted with several Easter eggs you may have missed.

4. The Brotherhood’s Future Is a Nod to Fallout 3

In a post-credits scene, Dane is shown to bring Cleric Quintus a mysterious set of blueprints.

With the Brotherhood engaged in a Civil War, Quintus declares that Quintus the Unifier is dead, adding that he’ll now be known as Quintus the Destroyer.

As he does so, the character rolls out blueprints for a Liberty Prime suit, something you may remember most significantly from Fallout 3.

The mech will likely play a key role in the Brotherhood’s future next season, although the show’s version will have its own gimmick.

The blueprints refer to it as Liberty Prime Alpha, the ‘alpha’ part being new. Only time will reveal what’s in store there.

3. We’re Heading to Colorado

By the end of the season, it’s clear that we’re heading to Colorado in season three.

That’s evidently where Cooper Howard / The Ghoul’s family have fled as per the postcard he finds; the idea, though, is also reiterated via a billboard during the end credits.

Colorado is referenced in Fallout Tactics, a game considered to be non-canon.

It’s the home of Vault 0 which was one of the only vaults not intended to run Vault-Tec’s various experiments.

It’s widely assumed that perhaps that’s where the Enclave, including the President, holed up.

I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that this lore will influence what takes place in season three in a major way.

2. The Courier May Have Been Mentioned

There’s a stellar scene in the finale where The Ghoul confronts House, albeit a virtual representation of him. We’re all familiar with the talking video screen iteration of the character.

House mentions that his body became a target for “wandering travellers with something to prove” over the years, explaining that he had been “poisoned, shot, [and] budgeoned with crowbars” before The Ghoul interrupts.

For anyone who’s played Fallout: New Vegas, I’m sure you’ll agree with me: if that’s not a nod to The Courier, I don’t know what is.

1. The NCR Arrive in Style, a Nod to New Vegas

You’ve got to hand it to Maximus. He dealt with those deathclaws exceptionally well but eventually, it’s no surprise that he needed some help.

Thankfully, the New California Republic showed up just in time with a slow-motion shot that pays homage to the games.

We see an NCR soldier firing a bullet. The camera begins on their face, zooming out as we make our way down the scope of the gun before viewing the bullet itself.

This appears to be a direct nod to New Vegas’ intro where pretty much the exact same sequence can be seen.

It’s a lovely little reference.

I’m sure other Easter eggs will come to light as the finale is unpacked but all in all, I say it was a great way to end a successful season.
