Fallout’s ghouls are getting sexier as time moves on and that’s a hill I’m willing to die on, for the love of the game.
Introduced in the original 1997 Fallout game the ghouls are humans who’ve been exposed to dangerous levels of radiation, mutating them into shells of their former selves.
They’ve been a series mainstay and you can even play as one in Fallout 76, a feature we’re hoping gets carried over to Fallout 5.
However it’s only been in recent years where gamers such as myself have noticed a bizarre trend emerging in ghoul-kind, they’re getting hotter.

I blame Walton Goggins as Fallout’s Cooper Howard, AKA The Ghoul, opened my eyes to how seductive some of these charred and rotted creatures can be and I know I’m not alone on that.

You see it right. It's not just me. Tell me it's not just me.
Swooooooon.
Hancock from Fallout 4 is another good example and I’ve seen plenty of gamers thirsting over him online, especially when the game first launched.

Ghouls weren’t always hot though. Like I said, it’s been a gradual transformation over time.
Some of the first ghouls players will have met are nothing short of living nightmares.
Sure, some of them are friendly and you can even get a few as companions in some of the games, but the ferals tend to outnumber the sane.
It was somewhere around Fallout: New Vegas though where they really started to come into their own.
Even the devs started to realise as you can even get frisky with one at the Atomic Wrangler in Freeside provided you’ve done the prior side-quest.

All of this has culminated in Walton Goggins’ portrayal of The Ghoul being weirdly seductivex, something even the actor himself gets following one of our interviews.
Fans simply can’t get enough of him, despite knowing deep down they wouldn’t have a chance. Cooper Howard’s wasteland alter-ego is a man driven by objective and vengeance, and while we’ve seen his softer side in Fallout Season 2 it seems he’s very much still committed to his wife. Lucky gal.
If Bethesda has been paying attention though I wouldn’t be surprised to see a romanceable ghoul companion in Fallout 5, perhaps one exclusive to those who choose to play as a ghoul rather than your standard vault-dweller.
Call me crazy all you want but I can’t stay quiet anymore, there’s a sexy ghoul revolution unravelling right in front of our eyes and I’m here for it.
