Walton Goggins Explains Why He Won't Play Fallout Games

Well thought out

Whether you like it or not (and most people absolutely seem to, myself included), the Fallout series on Amazon Prime really has gone all out to make sure their rendition of the games is as faithful as possible.

From the iconic blue jumpsuits to the upcoming rendition of New Vegas and all of the weird and wonderful factions that call it home, it's all pretty immediately recognisable to longtime players.

Part of that approach has seen many of the stars of the show jump into the games for the first time, including Lucy star Ella Purnell, who confirmed that she had recent explored the wonders of the Commonwealth in Fallout 4.

One member of the cast who won't be playing any time soon is The Ghoul actor Walton Goggins, who actually had quite a detailed reason for why he doesn't fancy it.

Walton Goggins Wants 'A Very Different Perspective'

In a recent round of interviews ahead of the release of the show's second season on 17 December, Goggins spoke to PC Gamer and explained in detail why he won't play any of the Fallout games as part of his preparation.

"No, I haven't sat down to play the games and I won't. I won't. I won't play the games. I'm not interested," he said.

"All of a sudden, I'm looking at this world from a very different perspective, and as something on a screen in which I am an avatar in.

"I don't believe that I'm an avatar. I believe The Ghoul exists in the world. I believe that Cooper Howard exists in the world.

"The best way that I can serve this world and serve the fans of this game, I think, is to go to work every single day and believe the circumstances that I'm presented with," Goggins confirmed.

He's joined in that approach by Maximus actor Aaron Moten in the same interview, though he didn't rule out playing the games after his run on the show has ended.

"I haven't played them before, and I can't play them now," Moten said.

"I feel like I need to be done with the work that we're doing before I can jump in. I feel like I get this really uniquely particular opportunity to be within the world of the game, like the Disney World version of it, where it's life-like and built out in front of me. But I'm still gonna wait. I'm gonna wait till I'm done."

"And who knows, maybe we'll be working on this so long that Bethesda will have a new Fallout number for us to jump into."

We live in hope Aaron, we live in hope.
