Ahead of this weekend's AEW PPV, Forbidden Door at the O2 Arena in London, England, during a recent media call with AEW president, Tony Khan, AEW Fight Forever 2 was Teased.
Developed by Yukes, AEW Fight Forever was released in 2023 with its gameplay, and visuals directly inspired by classic Nintendo 64 brawler, WWF No Mercy.
In my review, I said “AEW Fight Forever probably won’t be winning any end-of-year awards, but whether you’re a pro wrestling fan or an arcade brawler, AEW Fight Forever will be one of the most fun video games that you’ll play this year.”

However, over the months that followed its launch, AEW Fight Forever lost much of its steam with pro wrestling fans getting bored of its lack of gameplay depth and modes.
Yet, during the aforementioned media call, when I asked AEW president Tony Khan if we might see a sequel to AEW Fight Forever, there was some promising news for diehard pro wrestling fans.
“I love pro wrestling and I’ll be the first to say that I’m not the biggest expert in the world on video gaming, but I like to play video games,” replied Khan.
“We learned a lot making the game [AEW Fight Forever], and we could take that in the future. I really believe we can make the next game much, much better and learn from the experiences of doing that.”

He continued: “I do think eventually, there will be further AEW forays into gaming, different kinds of games, mobile games, different concepts, different platforms. It’s really important to a lot of our fans and I’m trying to learn from that feedback.”
Whether we actually see a sequel to AEW Fight Forever remains to be seen but it’s promising news at least, that it's under some consideration. Hopefully, the developers in charge of the game will learn lessons from the 2023 game and it will fulfil its potential.
AEW Fight Forever is available now on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
