Red Dead Redemption 2 meets Assassin's Creed Black Flag in stunning pirate mod

Do what you want cos a pirate is free

What do Red Dead Redemption 2 and Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag have in common? I mean apart from both being excellent games? They're both incredible simulations in their own rights.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is hands-down the ultimate cowboy sim. You can hunt animals, camp out under the stars, and even die from an incurable disease. Amazing. Meanwhile Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag lets you sail the seas, plunder islands and rival boats for treasure, and generally be a swashbuckling superstar pirate.

Take a look at some of our favourite Red Dead Redemption 2 wins and fails below!

Can you imagine, then, what a game that combined Red Dead Redemption 2 and Black Flag would look that? A pirate adventure with the spirit of Assassin's Creed and the scope and intricacy of a Rockstar open world could just be one of the greatest things ever made.

While such a game is yet to become a reality, YouTuber GTA Workshop has given us a sweet taste. A simple but effective pirate mod for Red Dead Redemption 2 gives the game an entirely new feel, and shows us that a Rockstar-developed pirate game could in fact be one of the greatest video games ever made.

The mod itself basically just gives Arthur Morgan some pirate gear and plonks him down around Guarma, but seeing it in action it looks every bit an authentic pirate game as Arthur takes on enemies, explores ruins, and looks out over a deep blue ocean.

See for yourself below!

It would be remarkable if a team of modders out there decided to flesh out this concept even more. I can't stop thinking about sailing across a huge world that looks as good as Red Dead Redemption 2's, a world scattered with unique islands to explore and stories to discover.

Basically, someone please make this happen for us.
