Gather around my Steam loving friends. You have one final chance to download the very fun sci-fi shooter Cryptark for free.

It’s a busy ol’ day in the world of video games. Both Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Super Mario Bros. Wonder released into the world today. In our Spidey review, we said, “It’s hard not to come away from my time with Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 grinning from ear-to-ear. This is an amazing fantasy come to life and realised like never before. Insomniac Games has crafted yet another heartfelt Spider-Man story bursting with twists, turns, and show-stopping spectacle.”. If you find yourself with a bit of spare time outside of those two games, and you’re not still catching up on Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Starfield, or Baldur’s Gate 3, you may want to grab Cryptark.

Take a look at Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 in action below.

Developed and published by Alientrap, Cryptark is a 2D sci-fi shooter “where you take on the role of a heavily armed privateer seeking to earn government contracts by boarding deadly alien space-hulks. It's up to you to strategise a plan of attack, pick an equipment loadout, and destroy the central core to be victorious.”

The game features procedurally generated ‘alien space-hulks to board and defeat’, a replayable campaign, a leaderboard, a banging soundtrack, and there are over 70 weapons to choose from. RockPaperShotgun called the game “richly strategic” while Kotaku remarked that devs had ‘got it right’.

The game has Very Positive reviews on Steam, with a rating of 83%. One reads, “Impressive quality considering it’s free,” while another adds, “Plays good, looks good, and sounds good.” Ticking all the boxes. Cryptark is currently available to download for free (normally £10.99) but the offer expires on 21 October, tomorrow, at 6pm BST so get downloading.
