Corsair Cove is the Assassin's Creed Black Flag and Tropico crossover we've been waiting for

If you’re itching for a Tropico alternative with Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag vibes, then look no further than the brand-new game, Corsair Cove.

The Tropico series is one of the most popular city-building strategy properties of its genre since its inception in 2001, winning fans over with its deep gameplay mechanics and vibrant Caribbean visuals.

If you’re new to the city builder simulation genre and just so happen to be a fan of Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, then the Tropico series is well worth checking out. Its most recent entry, Tropico 6, is available on PC and modern consoles, and its upcoming sequel will be cross-platform too.

However, what if you’re a veteran Tropico fan on the lookout for something new, something from a different developer with those Black Flag vibes? Then the aforementioned Corsair Cove could be for you.

What is Corsair Cove?

“Corsair Cove is a city builder that challenges you to think tall as you build without constraints on cliff-faces and hilltops, and manage complex production chains that span across great lengths and heights,” reads the description of the game, developed by Limbic Entertainment.

“Manufacture everything from spyglasses to cannons, equip your crew, and build mighty ships to take to the seas and wage war against the Crown.

“Raid and pillage nearby islands to acquire what you can’t make for yourself, exploring uncharted lands to uncover great treasures and threats alike. Above all, keep your crew in high spirits as your numbers grow – it’ll take thousands of pirates to keep the Jolly Roger flying!”

If it looks like Corsair Cove could be your cup of tea, then you’ll be pleased to know that it currently has a playable demo on the PC platform Steam.

At the time of writing, Corsair Cove is supposed to release today (July 31, 2026), but it’s currently not available to buy on Steam. That will hopefully change in the coming hours or by the time you’re reading this article.

Corsair Cove is also coming to the Epic Games Store and the Microsoft Store. What’s more, it’s also included in PC Game Pass at no extra cost. There has been no announcement relating to Corsair Cove coming to consoles, well, at least not yet.
