Free Assassin's Creed Black Flag update finally brings a Jack Sparrow crossover

The high seas have never been so full of mischief and mayhem as Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced has now been taken over by a mad pirate.

Black Flag Resynced is the perfect remake that topped off the franchise's big return.

Arriving earlier this year, the remodeled version of Assassin's Creed's most underappreciated game was met with mass applause, managing to keep the identity of the original and give it a modern-day makeover.

"Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced looks better, plays better and has brand new content to boot. All the ingredients that any good remake could ever need," we wrote in a hands-on preview.

And the developers agree. For anyone who has yet to play the game, lead level designer Julian Koch told us that the true beauty in Black Flag isn't just Assassin's Creed on a ship, but rather the reactive and beautiful environment and world exploration, differing from Valhalla or ancient Greece.

"I feel when fans rediscover places like Havana, it’s not just how the world looks, it’s how it moves and feels, and you see the dense crowd. They’ll see how the environment reacts to your actions. It’s all the small things that add more to the world, but remain very faithful to the original," he told us in an exclusive interview.

Yet there was always one thing missing from Black Flag - and now, it, or should we say he, has arrived.

While Black Flag Resynced did a great job of hiding some hilarious quips that every pirate would appreciate, such as the Rickroll Easter egg, protagonist Edward Kenway just doesn't quite have the same gravitas as some of the other legendary characters in the series.

He's funny, but he's no Ezio.

So, why not turn him into Jack Sparrow?

Thanks to Kasmik123 on Nexusmods, Edwards's default Walpole outfit can now be replaced with the full get-up of Captain Jack Sparrow.

From the pantaloons to the hat, the outfit is a perfect resemblance of his iconic look throughout Pirates of the Caribbean, and Johnny Depp's moustached likeness is captured extremely well.

The mod is by no means the most elaborate of concepts; there are no additional missions or weaponry involved here, just a straight wardrobe change with Cap'n Jack's eyeliner - there's not even a Black Pearl for the legendary character, but maybe he's just misplaced it.

The mod is free to download for all users and will add some well-needed panache to your next runthrough.
