Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is one of the best Assassin’s Creed games ever made, possibly surpassing Assassin’s Creed II.

The swashbuckling stealth-action was and still is incredibly popular too so it’s no wonder Ubisoft selected it from so many others for a remake.

So far Ubisoft has given us radio-silence on what’s formally known as Assassin’s Creed Black Flag: Resynced other than it exists, but insiders claim it’ll be a worthwhile reimagining.

It’s said the modern-day content found in the original release has been cut entirely, and replaced with an expanded story for protagonist Edward Kenway.

Graphics and gameplay are also said to be more in-line with recently released Assassin’s Creed games like Assassin’s Creed Shadows. That’s a little worrying as it implies the remake will introduce the RPG mechanics which many fans won’t be too thrilled with.

That’s all hearsay at the moment, but new reports say we’re about to get more information as soon as next week.

Bring Me That Horizon

According to an anonymous user on Resetera the release date for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag: Resynced is a lot closer than you’d think.

Not only that but events are planned for later in the month that’ll reveal more about the game as well as confirm its release date.

The mysterious users’ post read: “Announcements planned to go live on the 16th and there is also an event taking place later this month Release not that far away

Now we of course need to take this with a pinch of salt but given what’s already on the horizon for the remainder of 2026 it’d make sense for Ubisoft to start making moves now rather than later.

The studio’s major reshuffle earlier this year wounded it badly, as gamers were mortified to learn of how in-development games were cancelled following the lay-offs and changes in leadership.

It was feared the Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remake was one of these games, and while it thankfully survived the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake wasn’t so lucky. That said the Prince of Persia IP is still set to make a return on Xbox soon enough.

After all of that controversy Ubisoft needs a win, and Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced dropping towards the end of Spring or beginning of Summer could be exactly that.

Our first look at Assassin’s Creed Black Flag: Resynced could be dropping next week, mark your calendars for 16 April.
