Xbox drops 5 free games with Bloodborne rival and Studio Ghibli-inspired RPG included

Xbox has unveiled its latest Free Play Days line-up, with the green brand’s weekly event providing all Xbox users with limited-time free access to select titles.

This latest edition includes just one game for those without Game Pass, and an additional four for those who are subscribed to the service, regardless of whether it’s the Essential, Premium, or Ultimate Tier.

Celebrate the 10th anniversary of an all-time horror classic for Halloween

Behaviour Interactive

All Xbox users now have access to Dead by Daylight, with the beloved multiplayer title free to enjoy from now until the end of the day on Monday, November 2.

Behaviour Interactive’s hugely successful release either sees you play as a survivor or a killer. Killers must hunt down survivors, while survivors must escape killers; it’s all very self-explanatory.

The game has collaborated with tons of well-known IPs over the years, including the likes of Resident Evil, Stranger Things, Silent Hill, Alien, Scream, and more.

It’s most definitely the perfect game to play this Halloween, especially if you don’t normally like horror.

Dead by Daylight can be spooky, but the more friends you play it with, the more fun it becomes - and if you want to continue playing past Monday, the game is on offer for $11.99 instead of $29.99.

Pricing will vary by region, with all prices correct at the time of publication.

Game Pass users can try a soulslike-inspired RPG and another that oozes Ghibli charm

Again, an additional four games are included in this week’s Free Play Days for those with a Game Pass subscription. All four are available from now until the end of the day on Sunday, November 1.

Let’s kick off with Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, a soulslike action RPG that’s a perfect alternative to Bloodborne - a FromSoftware hit notably not available on Xbox.

505 Games

Whereas Bloodborne is inspired by Victorian London and Wuchang: Fallen Fathers is deeply rooted in Chinese mythology, they both include intense combat, maze-like world design, and themes of mutation.

If you want to continue playing past Monday, you can pick up the full release for $34.99 instead of $49.99.

For something more wholesome, Spirittea is the RPG for you. Developed by Cheesemaster Games, this charming title sees you run a bathhouse that caters to spirits - a concept that'll be very familiar to anyone who’s watched Spirited Away.

No More Robots

It features charming pixel-art visuals and is quite simply as heavenly to play as it sounds. Spirittea is one of the best Studio Ghibli-inspired games out there, and it’s on offer for just $9.99 if you want to keep playing.

Darkwood and Everspace 2 round out the Game Pass-specific Free Play Days line-up.

Darkwood is another easy pick for Halloween. This survival horror from Acid Wizard Studio is played completely from a top-down perspective, offering something a little different.

Hooded Horse, Acid Wizard Studio

You must seek shelter by night and explore the Darkwood during the day, looking for defences as you seek to protect yourself from this location’s mysterious horrors.

There are various biomes to traverse and Darkwood’s story is hugely impacted by the choices you make.

It’s most definitely an unsettling game but due to the art style and play perspective, it’s perhaps more approachable for those that don’t typically enjoy horror. No offer is running on the full version, which retails for $14.99.

Finally, Everspace 2 is a single-player shooter which is currently discounted to just $9.99 from $49.99, should you enjoy your free taster.

Rockfish Games

Players will explore the war-torn star systems of the Demilitarized Zone of Cluster 34, fending off threats, discovering secrets, and solving puzzles.

You spend the game piloting a ship rather than, say, exploring on foot, with high-octane airborne firefights that tick the box of what was missing in Starfield.

With all of Free Play Days’ available games, there’s no limit on how far you can progress; you have access to the full game of each title, albeit within the allotted time window only.
