Xbox drops 3 free games you don't need Game Pass for including 94% rated RPG
The weekend is upon us, with Xbox’s Free Play Days having made its grand return.
It’s actually living up to its name on this occasion, as this time around, you don’t need a Game Pass subscription to enjoy three of the four included titles; they’re available to all.
If you’re not familiar with Free Play Days, it’s a timed event, offering limited-time free access to select titles over the course of a weekend.
Here’s precisely what you can get your hands on this week.
The Lonesome Guild is a 94%-rated RPG that only launched in 2025

Developed by Tiny Bull Studios, The Lonesome Guild is available for all Xbox users to try between now and the end of Sunday, September 6.
The only caveat is that you only have a two-hour timed trial with this one, but that should be enough time to see if The Lonesome Guild is for you.
It probably will be given just how beloved this party-based RPG is. You play as Ghost, who attempts to build a team of champions in the fraught world of Etere.
The champions boast miraculous powers and hope to rid Etere of a sudden mist of loneliness and despair.
You’ll travel across a gorgeous open-world, maintain relationships, and fend off any threats that stand in your way.
“Cute story, cute characters, cute graphics, good combat,” one simple review reads. The game will set you back $24.99 if you want to pick up the full release. Pricing may vary by region.
Under The Waves is a narrative adventure with an 85% discount running
Much like The Lonesome Guild, Under The Waves can be enjoyed by all Xbox users between now and the end of Sunday, but you also only get a two-hour timed trial.
Created by Parallel Studio and first launched in 2023, this one centres around Stan, a professional diver struggling to overcome a loss that came amid an extended underwater mission.
“Stuck in his self-imposed solitude, he starts to experience strange events and will have to make the most significant choice of his life,” the synopsis teases.
You’ll explore the ocean as Stan confronts the demons of his own mind. If you enjoy your two hours with the game, there’s a whopping 85% discount running until September 6, bringing Under The Waves down to $4.49 from $29.99.
EA Sports College Football 27 needs no introduction
If you like your college football, then you’re in luck as all Xbox users can now also enjoy EA Sports College Football 27.
There’s no timed trial for this game either! You have a pretty generous window to enjoy it, with free access running from now until the end of Sunday, September 6.
How many hours you sink into it across the weekend is completely up to you.
This latest entry in the sports franchise brings deeper customisation in Road to Glory, plus you can play as your favourite mascots in Mascot Mashup.
As for the full release, it’s unfortunately not running a discount, retailing for $69.99.
