2026 has definitely felt like a renaissance for indie games, as more and more lesser-known titles are getting their fair share of the limelight.
‘Friendslop’ games like Peak have encouraged more gamers to round up their friend groups than ever, and some like Big Walk are even taking centre stage in the latest round of PlayStation Plus freebies.
BOMBANANA! is the next game garnering attention online, and it’s got the Steam rating to back it up.
Simply put, BOMBANANA! is about you and two friends defusing a ticking time bomb, which is already complicated, but it gets worse.

One of you has the inability to see, the other the inability to hear, and the last the inability to speak. It’s based on the famous carving of the Three Wise Monkeys, which refers to the proverb "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil."
Each player must overcome their respective restrictions and still find a way to defuse the bomb in time, usually by working together and being each other’s eyes, ears and voice.
Plenty have already tried the game online, and it’s led to some viral clips of people delivering crystal-clear instructions to someone who can’t actually hear what they’re saying, before realising a minute later that they’re screwed and the bomb is about to explode.

So far, over 2,500 players have tried the free demo and left glowing reviews, equalling a respectable 97% Overwhelmingly Positive rating.
“This game has MAD potential,” began one of the reviews, “obviously not a ton of depth at the moment, but for the (approximate) hour that I played with friends, it was a blast, really excited to see how future development goes!”
“Very fun game and has good potential. All it needs is more puzzles and to be able to sign the number 0” read another.
Those who haven’t played the demo yet are encouraged to do so, but obviously, you’ll need two other players to join you.
For those who have been playing the demo and want to play more, you don’t have long to wait until the full release. An exact release date hasn’t been shared at the time of writing, but BOMBANANA! is scheduled to launch sometime in August.
Has Meccha Chameleon been dethroned already?
BOMBANANA! is good fun, but for the past few weeks, all we’ve been seeing is Meccha Chameleon.
For those unaware, it’s a bit like Prop Hunt, but rather than turning into various items, you instead paint your character to blend into the background.
Like BOMBANANA! it went viral for several humorous moments and hiding places, but its increased popularity has unfortunately led to disaster.
Rogue elements have made their way into the game, resulting in PCs being exposed to malware on certain custom maps. Players are being warned to proceed with caution.
Hopefully, everything will be fixed in time, but it’s moments like this that have gamers heading out to the next big thing, which might end up being BOMBANANA! depending on how launch day goes.
