Starfield pre-orders are already discounted

Smell that? It's the scent of money off a AAA game

Starfield already discounted? Say what! You’d better believe it, baby.

The game that has everyone talking, even the players who are still lost to Baldur’s Gate 3, can be yours at a slight reduction. This isn’t a massive deal, but hey, any new AAA game that retails for less than its intended price is a deal worth taking advantage of.

Soon we'll know all... Watch Starfield's story trailer to ready yourselves!

We’re still two weeks out before the Starfield embargo lifts on 31 August, so it’s a guessing game as to whether this Bethesda creation is as good as the evidence thus far suggests. Still, while you can never know for sure until you play it yourself, you can pre-order for $10 less, essentially cushioning you from disappointment should the game not slap.

It goes without saying that Xbox Game Pass players will get a good deal because they’re immune to the steep price thanks to their wise choice in subscription. Alas, not all of us can be that savvy – perhaps you don’t have the monthly funds, perhaps you never wish to own an Xbox and instead opt for PlayStation or PC. Whatever the reasons, it’s unavoidable that some folks can’t be saved by the glory of Game Pass.

Enter Newegg. Currently, they have Starfield Standard and Premium editions at a discount. All you have to do is uncover the keys to the kingdom, and my friends, I offer those keys to you freely. Simply use the code ‘SAVEXDPP’ when finalising your purchase to unlock the door to happiness. Those all important digits will get the Standard Edition for $60, while the Premium will set you back $90 instead of $100.

Having tested the code for myself, I can confirm it works. But you’ll need to act fast, because pre-orders won’t stay open forever; you have until 22 August. That’s not a lot of time, so what are you doing still waiting around? Get going already.

While a physical pre-order isn’t on the cards for PlayStation owners, there’s a little trick to allow PS gamers to download Starfield when it launches; all you need is tenacity, and a Sony Android TV. It takes more effort than downloading it on your console, but needs must.

The game is gold. The date is set. We have until 31 August for the review embargo to lift, and until 6 September for its official release.
