Starfield fans wanting to spice up their gameplay can download this new free expansion.

It’s been nearly two years since Starfield released, and fans were hopeful that the game would have received more love by now.

Although the game was on a decent pipeline with a series of patches in 2024, Bethesda has gone silent on the future of the game following the release of the Shattered Space expansion.

In fact, Starfield has only had one patch in 2025 so far, and news about future updates and DLC has been kept to a minimum, leaving fans upset.

If you want to spice up your Starfield playthrough, however, a new fan-made expansion should do the trick.

Starfield modder polvovoss has released a new update for their mod, Permanent POIs, which seeks to improve upon the exploration aspect of the game.

Permanent POIs – Rogue Science adds 16 new places to explore, along with five new weapons, new enemies, and other bits and bobs to enhance the experience.

POIs—which stand for “Points of Interest”— are locations on Starfield planets which have something interesting to explore or do. They’re usually tied to specific quests, or have unique loot or enemies to find.

Permanent POIs is part of an ongoing mod series which aims to overhaul the POIs and add new ones to the game.

Combining Rogue Science with the other mods in the series gives you a total of 76 new locations, a dozen weapons, and plenty of new enemies.

With new updates from Bethesda slowing down significantly for Starfield, it seems like modding might be the way to go if you want to expand your RPG experience.

If it was exploration in particular that you felt needed to be improved about the game, we’d recommend checking out the Permanent POIs mod series in full. You can download it from Nexus Mods now.
