PlayStation surprises fans with new August freebies you can claim now without PS Plus

The summer of freebies continues

August has already been a generous month for freebies, and it’s only just begun.

Well, the good fortune of PlayStation users continues with this surprise batch of free downloads that require no PlayStation Plus.

Seeing as PS Plus users are having to quickly grab some last-minute free games before they’re gone, sometimes it’s better not to be a subscriber.

Three more freebies have landed, and with them comes ample opportunities to collect both points and digital collectibles.

Oohhhh. Ahhhh.

We could play the Spyro Reignited Trilogy every day and still not get bored

The first campaign you can score a freebie from is for those of you who enjoy the delights of a solo player experience.

As long as you buy and play one of the following games, 50 points will be yours:

  • Spyro Reignited Trilogy
  • SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated
  • Sonic Superstars
  • LEGO 2K Drive
  • Bugsnax
  • Concrete Genie

If you fancy adding another 50 points to your freebies pile, you need to play the “quirky stories” from one of these titles:

  • Doki Doki Literature Club Plus
  • Grim Fandango Remastered
  • Burly Men at Sea

And last but not least of these surprise August freebies is a rare collectible. ‘To Whimsical Worlds’ is an attractive digital download you can show off in that digital collectibles cabinet of yours.

Fortunately, if you’re already playing to unlock the second lot of 50 points, you’ll be able to claim this item as well.

We know this trend of needing to buy a game to unlock points isn’t for everyone; in fact, a lot of you are fervently against it.

However, sometimes it's worth it.

If you don’t want to make the most of these freebies, there are other ways to keep busy this month, for PlayStation has added a massive 70-hour RPG to its services.

There’s really no reason you should be bored or without tasks to complete this month.
