Bend Studio, the team behind Days Gone, Syphon Filter and Uncharted: Golden Abyss, is reportedly developing a new PlayStation game that could be revealed in 2027. While it isn't expected to be Days Gone 2, it will mark the studio's next major release following Days Gone.
It's been a while since we've seen anything new from Bend Studio, with the team's last major release being the criminally underrated open-world zombie adventure Days Gone in 2019 for PlayStation 4, which later received a PS5 remaster in April 2025.
While we can perhaps rule out a direct sequel to the aforementioned zombie shooter, it's still intriguing to consider what the long-awaited successor to Days Gone could be. That being said, as reported by MP1st, Bend Studio's next game might not be quite what you'd expect.
What is Bend Studio working on after Days Gone?

Firstly, fans of Days Gone may be disappointed to hear that we're probably not getting a sequel. Bend Studio previously pitched Days Gone 2 to Sony, only for the project to be rejected. There is a chance the developer could be working on the rumoured Uncharted: Drake's Fortune remake, but that's mere hearsay at this time.

Here's what we know from MP1st's report, which cites an anonymous source said to be familiar with what's happening at Bend Studio.
The developer's new project is reportedly a co-op multiplayer game for PlayStation, but it won't be a live-service title. It's also said to be played from a third-person perspective.
It's not a Days Gone sequel, so don't expect its protagonist, Deacon St. John, to return. The same goes for Uncharted's Nathan Drake, for that matter. However, MP1st couldn't confirm whether the project is an entirely new IP or tied to an existing Sony-owned franchise.
There's no release date for Bend Studio's new PlayStation project just yet. However, the report claims development is quite far along, with the game potentially launching later in 2027. If that's the case, it would presumably be a PS5 title.

That said, we should take all unconfirmed reports with a pinch of salt until they're officially confirmed. Hopefully, if these reports are true, we'll learn the game's name, what it's about, see some gameplay footage and, ideally, get a concrete release date in 2027. We'll let you know if or when the news is officially confirmed.
If this is indeed a co-op multiplayer game, and assuming it's based on an existing franchise, perhaps a return for the beloved Syphon Filter could be a good fit. After all, the last game in the series, Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow, was released on PSP in 2007 and featured multiplayer. Only time will tell.
