Days Gone is, unfortunately, never going to receive a sequel - and while The Last of Us Part III is likely on the cards, it perhaps won’t be revealed for a number of years, let alone launch.
With that in mind, there’s quite the gaping chasm when it comes to satiating the appetite of those who are craving a new zombie-filled release.
Well, while it may be coming to PC only for now, Pale Tide has been announced and it could be just the solution that many of us are looking for.
Developed by Aberratic, Pale Tide is a top-down zombie extraction survival game that sees a man and his dog attempt to survive an apocalypse.

It features a unique polygonal art style, with the trailer showing our protagonist facing off against hordes of zombies; the Days Gone comparisons are easy to make.
You won’t just fight zombies. Players will also need to rescue fellow survivors and set up a bunker which acts as your base.
From there, you’ll level up your gear and grow your crew. Food, ammo, medicine, and materials are all very scarce forcing you to venture further out of the bunker to scavenge.
“Going deeper means better rewards, but also greater danger. Sometimes, the smartest choice is to extract early with what you have. Other times, greed, panic, or one bad decision can cost you everything,” devs tease.
The titular ‘Pale Tide’ refers to the “the largest horde ever witnessed” with the idea of the game being that you need to prepare your escape before the Pale Tide arrives and decimates the area you’re residing in.
“After a mysterious outbreak turns most of the population into feral undead, surviving one zombie is manageable. Surviving the horde is another story,” the synopsis begins.
“Guided by a faint radio signal, you and your loyal dog discover a hidden bunker led by Marcus, one of the last survivors still trying to keep a small community alive.
“It is not much, but it is shelter. And in a world where every noise can attract death, shelter is everything.”
“This looks great,” one gamer commented on Pale Tide’s trailer.
“Amazing, thank you for sharing. I can’t wait to learn more and share it with everyone,” added another.
For the most part, it looks as if this indie project is flying under the radar.
As mentioned, it’s currently only scheduled to launch on PC via Steam, so we’ll just have to hope it might port to consoles if it has a successful release.
There’s no release date nor window but the game’s Steam listing is live if you want to wishlist it to be kept up to date on its progress.
