Days Gone Studio Officially Confirm New Game

We need Days Gone 2!

Days Gone team, Bend Studio, has officially confirmed that a new game is in the works for PlayStation.

Despite having a rocky launch on PlayStation 4 in 2019 due to performance issues, struggling to keep up with the incredible number of freaker hordes on the screen, over time, Days Gone has become a game that is now viewed quite favourably by fans.

Sure, the story is slow burn, but when its plot begins to unravel, it kept me hooked until its conclusion. What’s more, there aren’t many games that provide the level of tension like Days Gone when its protagonist, Deacon St. John, is being chased by hundreds of freakers, aka zombies.

Many of the performance issues that plagued Days Gone at launch were addressed when Bend Studio released a free new-gen update on PlayStation 5, giving the game a much-needed 60 frames-per-second boost.

However, earlier this year, Days Gone Remastered arrived on PC and PlayStation 5, not only giving the game a 4K and framerate boost, but its visuals were also improved with new lighting and shadow effects, foliage in the environment, as well as new modes and more.

Some fans hoped that the release of Days Gone Remastered was Sony testing the waters to gauge whether there was enough interest in a sequel. But while we wait to see if that concept comes to fruition, as reported by TweakTown, Bend Studio has confirmed that its next game is in the works.

News of Bend Studios’ next game is courtesy of a job advertisement for a new creative director, with the would-be applicant required to “Own the overall creative vision of the project, including visual style, quality bar, emotional tone, and narrative development.”

The job description also requires that those hired for the role must have “experience in a senior creative leadership role on at least one shipped AAA or high-profile game.”

However, fans hoping that this game will be Days Gone 2 may be disappointed to learn that the new game is a multiplayer title, potentially with live-service elements, as it requires “Experience with multiplayer game development and design.”

It’s not outside the realm of possibility that the unannounced multiplayer game is set in the same world as Days Gone or any other established Sony IP, but I’d be surprised if this were a direct sequel and continuation of Deacon St. John’s story.

That being said, when we learn more about this elusive new multiplayer game from Bend Studio, we’ll be sure to update you ASAP.
