Days Gone might not have been everything to everyone but it remains one of the better zombie games around and that experience of tearing through enormous hordes is one that should be fun for any gamer, regardless of what genre you usually go for.
Set in post-apocalyptic Oregon two years after the start of a pandemic that rendered much of the population down to hyper-violent and aggressive creatures known as Freakers, players take control of Deacon St. John, a former outlaw biker who is searching for his wife when he finds out she may be alive after years of believing her to be dead.
Developed by Bend Studio, the story is a fairly down the line one but the gameplay is solid and it was enough of a commercial success to warrant a PS5 remaster and re-release that dropped in April of this year.
Now, a new update has rolled out for that version of the game that takes advantage of one of the console's newest and most ingenious features.

As first reported by Push Square, the catchily named 1.036.180 update allows the game to take advantage of Sony’s new Power Saver feature. That feature allows the console to run games at a greatly reduced power intake, helping you to lower those bills and maybe even cool the planet in the process.
Sony has been gradually rolling out support for that power profile over the last month or so, after it was originally released onto the console in September.
Though the power draw reduction is undoubtedly a great option to have, it does come at the expense of both frame rate and visual fidelity, so if those are a high priority for you as a player, you may find that the new-ish power profile isn't for you.
The console behemoth has been noticeably absent from the handheld market, particularly at a time when it seems like all of their major competitors are clamouring for supremacy, so these steps forward could be indicative of the early stages of a move towards their own proprietary one of those.

If you have only played the original version of Days Gone, it's well worth jumping back into the remastered version, with a ton of new features that should elevate the playing experience.
Specifically, it looks a lot better and comes with a litany of additional accessibility options, as well as a new permadeath mode and speed running for the highly competitive amongst you.
