The PlayStation 6 is always causing a stir despite not even being announced yet, all because of one potential major feature.

Despite lacking official announcements, we know for a fact the next generation of consoles are being worked on right now. Leaks have already potentially revealed the next Xbox console, which has a frankly wild design, and the PlayStation 6 and Nintendo Switch 2 are all but inevitable at this point.

That being said, it's believed the consoles will have to do more than simply up the ante in terms of graphics and game selection, by boasting original features that make them stand out in a crowd.

For the PlayStation 5 this was the console’s fantastic DualSense controllers, which feature a variety of technological marvels for enhanced, more immersive gameplay. But for the PlayStation 6 it’s believed one of its major features will utilise AI, and it’s already causing quite a stir online.

YouTuber Moore's Law is Dead recently spoke about the PlayStation 6 on an episode of Broken Silicon. In the video he claimed to have heard one of the key features being considered for Sony’s next console is using AI to enhance games. This includes using AI tools to make in-game NPCs more immersive or give them the ability to communicate with the player more realistically.

AI is obviously a controversial topic at the moment for a number of reasons, mainly because it takes work away from actual creators. If Sony plans to utilise AI for NPCs in games it could make video game actors obsolete, which is something many well-known performers like Red Dead Redemption 2’s Roger Clark have condemned.

Of course at the moment nothing has been confirmed, and not a word of the PlayStation 6’s existence or development has been officially shared by Sony. However if the next console does boast AI as one of its standout features, it could set a dark precedent for the future of game design.
