Steam Free Download is Bloodborne-Style Banger With 9/10 Rating

Who doesn't love a good creepy... management sim?

This new Steam freebie looks like the combination of two of my favourite games… so much so, that I’ve already got it downloading in the background as I type this.

Have you ever been playing Slay the Spire and thought to yourself “This is cool, but I wish it was more messed up and Lovecraftian, in a Bloodborne kinda way”?

If that sounds like you, then I highly suggest you check out Steam’s latest free demo (because apparently it’s a banger).

Roots Devour, an upcoming management sim from developer Rewinding Games and publisher GCORES PUBLISHING, is a bit of a creepier spin on the deckbuilding genre.

In this one, you play as the bad guy. You’re instructed to “imbibe fresh blood, and embrace demise” as you “seize dominion over the mysterious forest for greater power”. Well, I’m sold already.

Even better still, the demo for the game on Steam currently has a 93% positive rating. But what’s got the reviewers so hyped up?

“Game play is super addictive, can't believe how much they managed to put in a demo,” commented Steam user L.E.D.

“Makes me really excited to play the full game! Art style and themes are also 10/10.”

“The demo is super fun. I like the direction and the aesthetic. I can't wait to play the full game and check it all out and give my feedback again after that. It feels like a puzzle but also you have some freedom in how you approach exploring thru the forest,” writes Steam reviewer Turtles.

“It feels a little roguelike too. Because you restart a few times after getting permanently stronger. It scratches the itch for me to play as a villain protagonist. Def recommend it.”

That’s my weekend plans sorted.

Hopefully this’ll at least help tide the gap in between now and Slay the Spire 2.
