PlayStation 6 leaked feature sounds unlike anything we expected

Huge if it's real

PlayStation users could be getting an innovative new feature, either as an update for the PS5 or more likely a feature exclusive to the PS6.

We’ve seen PlayStation’s ability to innovate for years now, most notably through the improvements made to the DualSense controller like haptic feedback, triggers and the built-in speaker.

Unfortunately the controller bundled with the PS5 Pro wasn’t any different

The PS5 Pro failed to really push the boundaries any further, as many question why it needed to exist in the first place since the improvements it makes ot graphical quality is minimal and you only really reap the benefit of owning one with a the right TV.

However no one has to justify the PlayStation 6, as it’s clear it’ll be a massive step-up in terms of graphical quality, loading times and apparently built-in features…

A new patent from Sony is teasing the option to rewind gameplay on a home console, which could be a game-changer if implemented properly.

Retro gaming fans will be familiar with the rewind feature as most retro platformers re-released for a modern audience include the option to rewind your gameplay to avoid in-game deaths, redo a platforming segment or just replay a part you particularly enjoyed.

The patent suggests that feature will be made available for modern games though, but obviously there’ll be some teething issues to work out.

For example how will this work for soulslike games, where the whole point is to get good at the game to avoid the long run back to the boss room, or multiplayer games?

Obviously there’s a lot to consider but take the patent with a grain of salt. Companies often acquire patents to prevent competitors from using them, like Warner Bros patenting the Nemesis System from Middle-Earth Shadow Of War only to never use it again.

There’s every chance this feature will never see the light of day, but if it is implemented into the PlayStation 6 it could be a good reason to pick one up.
