Arguably, one of the most underrated platform games on the PlayStation 5 is Astro’s Playroom but those who have played it will be very familiar with the joy that it brings.

Astro’s Playroom is somewhat of an oddity. Despite being loved by those who have played it, many haven't, despite it being a free digital game that comes pre-installed on new PlayStation 5 consoles. It shouldn't just be considered a tech demo to show off the PS5 console and DualSense controller features as it’s also a fully realised game that should not be ignored.

Earlier in the year, Sony announced that this beloved series will be getting a new standalone game to be purchased at retail or via the PlayStation Store with Astro Bot coming to PS5. “Astro Bot oozes the creativity I’d expect from Nintendo’s games, and it’s partly the reason I suspect it to be a contender for my GOTY,” we said in our hands-on preview at Summer Game Fest earlier this year.

Since the announcement of Astro Bot, Sony has released new content updates for the free base game which also bring new trophies for hunters to acquire, such as the most recent which appears to be a nod to the intense roguelike shooter Returnal. “Psst, another Special Bot needs your help in Astro's Playroom,” teased the PlayStation Twitter account.

Well, with the internet being the internet, it didn't take gamers long to discover the newly implemented secret which earns you the ‘Déjà vu’ trophy, as shared in a clip by DragonVPT17. With a couple more months until the arrival of Astro Bot, we wouldn't be surprised if we are treated to even more fun content updates to Astro’s Playroom.

Astro Bot will be released exclusively for the PlayStation 5 on 6 September 2024.
