Hogwarts Legacy players on Xbox Series X/S are reporting the new update has broken the game, urging others to not download it.

The latest update for Hogwart Legacy has reportedly introduced a ridiculous amount of bugs and performance issues to the game, with the ones having the worst experience being on Xbox consoles.

Reddit user Simple_Masterpiece73 highlighted the issues in a recent post, which read: “I played this game back in April and it was phenomenal. I didn't run across very many things wrong with the game. I decided to replay it yesterday and major bugs have been added. Ghosting effect on performance mode, lip sync is off, rainbow sparkles in places it shouldn't be on the map, wand handle screen, broom screen, and even cutscenes.”

They went on to say: “They had it perfect when I played back in April and I didn't notice any of the things I stated above … It's still a good game, but I don't ever think I've seen an update add bugs that weren't present before.”

Unsurprisingly, they weren’t the only ones to notice a decline in quality following recent updates, with many users saying they’d experienced similar issues that weren’t present in earlier builds of the game.

“Finally someone else that mentions this … I also have times when I can no longer pick up things off the ground and have to reload the game.”

“I've had these issues on Series X since April or May, maybe June. I do remember not having the pause screen before, but the in-game graphics glitch I have had since day 1.”

“They definitely broke a lot of visual stuff with the last patch and then just left it… Post-release support for this game has been abysmal. That idiotic switch port must be using up all their resources.”

The Nintendo Switch port will hopefully drop in November, after several delays. It’ll join several titles that have received embarrassing ports to the Switch, leading many to ask why developers are bothering to bring them to the Nintendo platform if they know they’ll be inferior in terms of graphics and performance.

Hogwarts Legacy is currently available on Xbox, PlayStation and PC platforms.
