The Harry Potter reboot series will explore more of the books than the films ever could, including some cut characters.
Filming for the new HBO series is currently underway and some behind-the-scenes images and videos have surfaced. For instance, one leaked the other day that showed Harry and Hagrid on their way to Diagon Alley.
The first season will cover the story of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (Sorcerer’s Stone if you’re American) with future seasons covering the later books in the series.
With each series having a greater runtime than the films, it allows for more of the book’s story to be included, and that includes cut characters that never got their live-action limelight.

One such character who’ll be getting more screentime in the remake will be Charlie Weasley, confirmed during a casting announcement, who does technically make an appearance in the films, but in a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment.
Charlie is a dragon trainer, an ex-Quidditch captain and even has a role in the Battle Of Hogwarts in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. He makes a single appearance in the films in a Weasley family photo that appears in Harry Potter and the Prisoner Of Azkaban, and is played by Alex Crockford.
It’s unclear just how much of his story will be told throughout the HBO series but his inclusion alone is pretty cool, and proves we’re clearly getting an expanded version of Harry’s tales that couldn’t be achieved in the films.
While behind-the-scenes leaks have been surfacing, the series still has plenty of secrets, including who will play Harry’s nemesis Voldemort.

It’s said that the actor for Voldemort won’t be revealed before the first season airs, in order to give fans something to look forward to, though plenty of theories and fancasts have been shared in the meantime.
The first season of the new Harry Potter series will air on HBO in 2027, which feels like a world away.
