GTA 6 murals have been popping up in the wild as Rockstar Games ramps up promotion for its highly anticipated open-world adventure. But if a previous GTA: San Andreas mural is anything to go by, these new GTA 6 adverts could still be around more than 20 years from now.
With just 24 days to go until GTA VI launches, Rockstar Games is ramping up promotion for its highly anticipated open-world adventure, which aims to be one of the biggest releases of 2026 and beyond.
Now, eagle-eyed fans have spotted a new Grand Theft Auto VI mural that's being compared to a GTA: San Andreas advert painted in Brooklyn back in 2004, which is still visible more than 20 years later.
How has the GTA: San Andreas mural survived for over 20 years?
The original post from the X account Pubity doesn't make it clear where this new GTA VI mural was found. However, Rockstar Games has been ramping up its marketing in places such as Miami in the United States, which, of course, is the inspiration for the fictional Vice City.
The GTA: San Andreas mural from 2004 appears to have been covered by unrelated advertising material over the years. However, when that material was recently removed, the original artwork was revealed underneath. It's the same artwork featured on much of the game's cover art, and it's possible that being covered helped protect it from further weather damage over time.

Will the GTA 6 mural still be around in 20 years?
Sadly, it's unlikely that the new GTA VI mural will still be around in 20 years. We'd imagine the reason the GTA: San Andreas mural has survived for so long is that it was covered by other advertising material and effectively forgotten about.
Advert
Now that the original GTA: San Andreas artwork has been revealed, there's a chance it could eventually be covered up or removed, although there's no confirmation that this will happen. It's a shame, as it's become a little piece of gaming history.
The new GTA VI mural, meanwhile, is a hand-painted advert on a poster sheet rather than a permanent installation painted directly onto a wall. Typically, these kinds of adverts may stay up for around a month, meaning this latest piece of Rockstar Games marketing is unlikely to last anywhere near as long.

When does GTA 6 release, and will it come to PC?
GTA VI will launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on November 19, 2026. With the release date now just around the corner, fans will be hoping Rockstar Games can avoid any further delays. However, until launch day arrives, we can't completely rule out another delay.
As for a PC release of Grand Theft Auto VI, Rockstar Games hasn't officially confirmed a version for the platform. That said, looking at previous major releases such as GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2, there's reason to hope that PC players won't have to wait too long after the console launch.
However, there's no confirmed release window yet, so we'll have to wait for Rockstar to share more details.
