ConcernedApe just dished out some new info about his follow up to Stardew Valley, and I am prepared to devote thousands of hours to it already.
Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone is quite possibly the most beloved video game dev of all time, and for good reason.
His 2016 cosy farming sim Stardew Valley took the world by storm when it first dropped, but it’s still just as popular now, if not more so, due to its frequent and massive free updates.
However, Barone’s undying support for Stardew Valley has come with one understandable downside: it's delayed the release of his next game, Haunted Chocolatier.

Back in December, Barone announced that development of Haunted Chocolatier had been paused so that he could work on new content for Stardew Valley, which is probably the best reason I’ve ever heard for a game being delayed.
He did state that development was still continuing though, and he’s finally ready to show off the fruits of his labour.
As revealed on ConcernedApe’s official Twitter yesterday, the solo dev showed off a new screenshot for the upcoming game and even announced that, yes, there will be a fishing mini-game.
This is the second time that Barone has given us a look at Haunted Chocolatier, as he also posted several screenshots of the game back in October 2023.

Unfortunately, this still doesn’t give us an exact insight into when the game will release, as Barone has been pretty tight-lipped on when we can expect it.
Considering he’s tackling the project by himself, much as he did with Stardew Valley (which took him roughly five years to develop), I think it’s fair to say that there’s absolutely no rush.
That being said, if development on Haunted Chocolatier started in 2020, and Stardew Valley took five years to make… nah, nevermind. Let’s not get ourselves too excited before we hear anything from the man himself.
