A new fan-made expansion for Stardew Valley lets you raise your children and have them grow into teenagers with fully fleshed out dialogue and actions.
Stardew Valley is already a pretty expansive game, but the dynamic family gameplay sometimes leaves a lot to be desired.
For example, why does no-one in the town seem to acknowledge your marriage? Why doesn’t my spouse do more with her time besides walking around the house? And why can’t the kids grow up?
Thankfully, Always Raining in the Valley Kids - Children Grow Up is a new mod that does the latter. It’s an add-on for the Always Raining in the Valley mod, which adds new custom NPCs to the game.
Advert
You see, Always Raining in the Valley adds three new characters to Stardew Valley: Sterling, Henry, and Mia.
You’re able to marry Sterling, making him one of the NPCs you can start a family with. Do I hear wedding bells?
Similar to the children you have with other NPCs though, these children can’t grow up after hitting the toddler age. Even if your child is born in Year 2, and you play until Year 10, it’ll still be a toddler.
A bit immersion breaking, but this new mod should sort things out at least. The Children Grow Up addon for Always Raining in the Valley makes it so your children can grow up into fully fledged teenagers.

The mod includes “years worth” of randomised dialogue for your children, and “over 150+ new marriage dialogue lines for Sterling”.
It also features more easter eggs and secrets involving the family, adding some longevity to your playthroughs, post-happily ever after with Sterling.
You can download Always Raining in the Valley Kids - Children Grow Up now from Nexus Mods, but you’ll also need the Always Raining in the Valley and Growing Valley - Child NPCs mods for compatibility.
Obviously, this mod is only available for PC versions of Stardew Valley, so if you're playing on console then you unfortunately won't be able to get this.
