Stardew Valley Just Got Its Wildest Fan Expansion Yet

These are their stories

Stardew Valley is one of those games that seemingly has no end on its horizon. The developer is one of the most attentive you'll find anywhere, with regular, meaningful updates only held up by the extremely small team that works on them (they do an incredible job).

Beyond that, the game's community is one of the most passionate and dedicated around, and they continue to push the boundaries of the game via mods that do everything from change individual items, to overhaul its entire visual identity.

One of the wildest we have come across in a long time is Law and Order SV, a mod that adds a bunch of things to the game that should appeal to the Dick Wolf fans amongst you.

Using the now ubiquitous police procedural as its source of inspiration, the mod is surprisingly deep considering it could look like a bit of a gimmick in the first instance. In the author's own words, the mod "adds a new sheriff's office to Stardew Valley, one of which has been closed down for some time but will soon welcome the return of a former Pelican Town resident, and his new deputy. By building trust with the new sheriff's office residents and completing tasks, the farmer will finally be able to put the criminals of Stardew Valley behind bars where they belong!"

Several of the game's characters have been earmarked as potential criminals, including Pierre, Lewis, Clint, Pam and Morris, all of which come with their own "arrest events" that are tuned to each individually.

The mod also adds four entirely new NPCs, so your forays into the new sheriff's office aren't too lonely. Russell and Shannon are the main ones, serving as the Sheriff and Deputy respectively, with both having interesting backstories and traits that suit law enforcement professionals. They also have pursuits outside of work, so don't be surprised if you see Russell taking some time to enjoy the outdoors.

The mod is also very customisable, and you're able to control how long the NPCs are incarcerated for, as well as tuning the arrest events for each NPC, so you don't have to hit your favourite character with the long arm of the law.

Law and Order SV is currently in its 1.4 version and it continues to be updated regularly. If you're a fan of police procedurals, and more importantly justice, then this is definitely one to add to the list.
