Fallout New Vegas is getting a brand new fan-made expansion set in Chicago, and a demo is available to play right now.
Created by Fallout modder GrimDos, Fallout: Chicago shows the effects of the franchise’s nuclear devastation on the eponymous Illinois city.
“Fallout Chicago is a DLC sized expansion to critically acclaimed Fallout New Vegas,” the description of the mod details on Nexus Mods.
It goes on to describe how “you'll set out to solve pre war mysteries, post war politics between The Union Mob and Midwest Brotherhood along with other factions' dilemmas.”

While it never physically appears in any of the games by Bethesda or Interplay, Chicago is mentioned numerous times throughout the series, so GrimDos and the rest of the Fallout Chicago Team are providing their own take on what has become of the city 200 years after the bombs fell.
Fallout Chicago Has A New Free Demo Available For You To Try Now
If you fancy checking out the demo, you can download it from Nexus Mods now. Make sure you have Fallout New Vegas installed, as you’ll need that to run the mod.
You’ll also need all of the expansions in the game installed, along with NVSE (New Vegas Script Extender) and the 4GB patcher for the game.

As for what is actually included in the demo, GrimDos states that it features the entire first act of the story, along with three side quests, two player homes, and four new factions.
It also has some new game mechanics which are brand new for the mod, like drug dealing and owning businesses, allowing you to do more in terms of building your character outside of quests.
Fallout Chicago also adds several new weapons and armour, new enemies, plenty of random encounters to take advantage of this.
As for the future of the mod following the release of the demo, it’s stated that the mod will continue to get new quests and narrative drops, including the second and third acts of the main quest.
It’ll also get new interiors, which the mod is sorely lacking at the moment, as well as two more companions, more quests, businesses, and random encounters. Placeholder dialogue will also be replaced by high-quality voice acting.
However, as of right now, a rough timeline or roadmap for what's getting added and when has not been revealed yet, so all we can do is wait.
