It's pretty good

Fallout’s second season is currently underway, but things aren’t going well. The continuation of Amazon Prime’s critically-acclaimed video game adaptation has been slated for its depiction of Fallout: New Vegas, which has been a bit uncalled for if you ask me.

So far we’ve met several factions found in Fallout: New Vegas, from Caesar's Legion to the Great Khans, but one we haven’t caught up with yet is the New California Republic, also known as the NCR.

Fallout’s second season is set a couple of decades after the events of Fallout: New Vegas and the NCR has seemingly been wiped out, but it lives on through this mod for Fallout 4.

Found on NexusMods, Long 15 - NCR Expansion is an expansion for Fallout 4 that adds a new map to explore, as well as new missions to undertake involving, you guessed it, the NCR.

Its description says it’s a “massive lore-friendly quest & land expansion with 30+ quests, 200+ fully voiced characters, new minor factions, player homes, and multiple main questlines. Allows the player to visit the Long 15 before nuking it in Lonesome Road, and expands upon NCR lands in California. ~20 hours of total content, with expansive player choice and consequences.”

Now you won’t be visiting the New Vegas strip unfortunately, but you will be checking out some new locations not found in Fallout 4, a staple of a good Fallout 4 mod.

Slight tangent but Fallout 4 would have been much better received if it was ever-so-slightly bigger. The map itself is pretty good in my opinion but locations like Diamond City feel incredibly underwhelming given their small size. I’ve seen a lot of players flag the Nuka-World DLC as a problem too, as many argue it should have been part of the base game to expand the story.

Back to Long 15 though, this at least feels like the map expansion the base game was missing at launch, and it weaves Fallout: New Vegas’ lore in quite well.

Hopefully the second season of the TV series picks up a bit, as it feels like the chances of a Fallout: New Vegas remaster hinges on the success of the show.

Ex-New Vegas developers have said they’d be more than interested in returning to the Strip, and with rumour of a Fallout 3 remaster on the way it only seems right that the best Fallout game gets the same treatment.

Fallout: Long 15- NCR Expansion is available to download now on NexusMods.
