Free Fallout: New Vegas 20+ hour expansion is a must-play before the remaster
Buckle up buttercups, we’re going back to the Mojave with a brand-new Fallout: New Vegas remaster from Bethesda. But before you polish your big iron and put on your duster, play this expansion first.
We’re in just a rush as everyone else to play a new-and-improved version of Fallout: New Vegas, and last week Bethesda revealed it’s a project that’s been in the pipeline for a while.
It makes sense given how the popularity of the series skyrocketed with the release of the Amazon Prime show, which is currently in the middle of filming its third season.
Our expectations are set unreasonably high because while we’re expecting a graphical overhaul like The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, Fallout: New Vegas is one of those games that deserves that extra mile.

Speaking of miles, during the wait for the remaster we’d wholeheartedly recommend playing Long 15 if you haven’t already. It’s an expansion/remaster mode that’ll extend your playthrough by 20 whole hours.
Fallout: New Vegas Long 15 is as good as a brand-new Fallout game
As far as mod expansions go there’s no better add-on for Fallout: New Vegas than Long 15, created by the Long 15 Team.
Simply put, it’s a huge map expansion that boasts “30+ quests, 200+ fully voiced characters, new minor factions, player homes, and multiple main questlines.”
The Long 15 is a location you can visit in the DLC expansion Lonesome Road, but it’s been devastated by a nuclear bomb.
As you progress through the story the DLC’s antagonist Ulysses informs the player that you were the one responsible, as the Courier unknowingly transported a device that eventually led to the destruction of The Divide. It’s one of the bleakest storylines you’ll find in a Fallout game, almost as bleak as the wave of layoffs Xbox has executed to force new games into production.

While the Lonesome Road DLC only lets you see the aftermath, the Long 15 expansion lets you visit before the bombs went off.
Like any good Fallout storyline there are consequences to what you do and who you side with, with the mod promising over 20 hours of new content. If you want to be a completionist and see everything the game has to offer this’ll bring one playthrough up to around 160 hours based on HowLongToBeat.
Get started now and you might even be finished by the time Fallout: New Vegas Remastered comes out…we kid, but we can dream.

Fallout: New Vegas’ return is some of the best news we’ve heard in a long time, but it’s also got us incredibly anxious.
The original game was janky, frustrating and downright broken at times, but we loved it all the same. Hopefully a remaster will do it justice by fixing some of the game’s more annoying features whilst expanding on its best.
