Fallout’s second season has drawn to a close, and it likely had one of two effects on you.
I’m imagining it’s left you itching to either replay Fallout: New Vegas or try out the game for the first time.
If you’re in the latter camp, I’d highly recommend you do.
Fallout: New Vegas is arguably the best Fallout game and while you will have to overlook a tiny bit of jank, it still runs exceptionally well today despite a lack of remastering.

If you’ve already played New Vegas and thought about doing so again, perhaps I can interest you in a mod that should liven up the experience.
A New Mod Overhaul Inspired By The Cancelled Van Buren
Fallout: The New West is a new free upcoming mod that will totally overhaul the game, creating an experience inspired by the cancelled Fallout: Van Buren.
It’s for that reason that I’d only give it a go if you have already played vanilla New Vegas.
As reported by DSOGaming, Fallout: The New West has been announced by The United West Team.
If you don’t know what Van Buren is, it’s a cancelled instalment in the Fallout franchise that was planned by Black Isle Studios.
It would’ve been Fallout 3 had it come out, but plans changed and we ended up with a very different Fallout 3 from Bethesda.
It was set in the year 2253 and revolved around an escaped prisoner pursued by robotic prison guards.
The game would’ve been set in the American Southwest with mad scientist Victor Presper acting as the main villain.
The United West Team are pulling together everything they know about Van Buren to create this new mod experience.
Built within New Vegas’ engine, The New West will include several of Van Buren’s major plot points including an NCR-Brotherhood conflict, the Great Tribal War between Caesar’s Legion and the Daughters of Hecate, and a struggle for the Mormon State.
The prisoner will star as the protagonist, as was originally intended by Black Isle, with The New West forming an alternate timeline in the mod version of the story.
Whilst the project has only just been announced, it’s been in development for quite a while with the team explaining that they’re hoping to launch a demo very soon.
That will be followed by the launch of Act One, although no precise time estimates have been given on either.
It’s with that in mind that I can’t tell you when the entirety of The New West will be available on PC, but it’ll undoubtedly be before Fallout 5, so that’s something.
