A new Fallout mod blends the worlds of Fallout 3 and New Vegas into one coherent experience.
Fallout 3 and New Vegas are excellent standalone titles, but considering how close they resemble each other, fusing the two together is also something modders have done time and time again.
The popular A Tale of Two Wastelands, for example, brings all the content from Fallout 3 into New Vegas, allowing you to enjoy the former’s story while also using the latter’s gameplay.
Fallout: Nuclear Sunset Will Tide Us Over Until We Get A Remaster Of 3
Now, a new mod has fused together A Tale of Two Wastelands with a load of other mods, making it the definitive edition of the Fallout experience.
As shared on Reddit, the Nuclear Sunset mod makes it so Fallout 3 and New Vegas have literally become one whole of a game, where you’ll have access to the storyline from both games, base game and DLC, and all locations, quests, and characters from each.

There are also some new quests which logically tie the story together, explaining why your character is flipping between two distant parts of the country. These questlines are all voiced, with around 7,000 lines of new dialogue added.
In addition to this, there are loads of new graphical features, tweaking everything from textures to lighting, and new weather systems are also present.
The maps themselves have also been redone, adding new buildings, altering landscapes, and overhauling other aspects of the game.
There’s loads more to cover, from over 60 new mechanics and features being added, to brand new enemies, weapons, and perks being included in the game. There’s so much to mention here that it’s best you just look at the modlist for yourself.
In total, it’s around 1700 mods changing up things, which is a tonne of new content to experience. It’s all lore-friendly too, ensuring that the original atmosphere is preserved while also expanding the game beyond its initial scope.
It’s recommended that you run the game on beefier machines than what we had when these games were coming out between 2008 and 2010. While Fallout 3 only recommends around 2 GB of RAM (which was quite a lot back then), this mod will need somewhere closer to 12–16 GB of RAM to play comfortably.
At least, this mod should tide us over until we get the rumoured Fallout 3 remaster.
