The Pokémon Company is off to a fierce start in 2026 following the announcements from the 30th anniversary Pokémon Day livestream. This includes a special freebie announcement for the upcoming Pokémon Champions.
Pokémon Champions is the next mobile app coming to the long list of free-to-play games that The Pokémon Company has pushed out over the past decade. The game will be available on Nintendo Switch and mobile devices, and will connect to the rest of the series via Pokémon Home.
Pokémon Champions offers a style of combat that will appeal to long-time fans of the series, featuring turn-based battles instead of MOBA or real-time styles that have been prominent in recent releases.
To celebrate the announcements made during the 30th Anniversary stream, players can grab a powerful freebie for the game’s upcoming launch - and it takes is opening the game.
As announced by the official Pokémon Champions social media account, players can grab a free Dragonite and its Mega Stone for Pokémon Champions by playing the game before August 31, 2026, as an early download bonus.

Currently, Pokémon Champions is going to launch in April 2026. However, a firm release date has yet to be given. That said, there has already been a good deal of hype for the game, with fans eager to jump in and start playing.
There isn’t much known about the way gameplay will function in Pokémon Champions despite being close to launch. Many of the features and mechanics will likely stay a mystery until the day it drops on the mobile app and Nintendo shops.
Despite this, it is an exciting addition to the growing selection of free-to-play games, and it will hopefully offer fans a way to engage and play Pokémon together from anywhere in the world.
