Pokémon’s latest Nintendo Switch launch is getting slated by players, but this new freebie makes things sort of better.
The Pokémon Company has officially launched Pokémon Champions on the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.
The new game trims down the traditional Pokémon experience to just the battles, like fans have seen with the Pokémon Stadium games.
Launch day hasn't gone well though as more and more players are becoming disgruntled with its roster, modes and more.

Like putting a plaster on a scraped knee though, The Pokémon Company is now distributing a new freebie that might win over a few players but ultimately ignore the bigger problems the game currently has.
Rolling out right now is a new mystery gift containing one of the most powerful evolved Pokémon around, Machamp.
This four-armed friend is one of the strongest ‘mon in the franchise when you look at the lore, capable of going toe-to-toe with even the most formidable legendaries the series has spawned over the years.
Machamp would be a solid addition to your team, so if you don’t have one in Pokémon Home that you can transfer over, this freebie is definitely one for you.
To claim him all you need to do is head over to the Mystery Gift section of Pokémon Champions before inputting the code CHAMP10N.
You’ve got ages to do this too as the code will only expire on 31 August, which is months away.
Machamp isn’t the only free Pokémon on offer either. Early Pokémon Champions players can also claim a free Dragonite for their team.

You may be wondering why all of these freebies involve fully-evolved Pokémon, as these are usually additions you need to work for if you want them on your team.
The answer is actually one of the core problems players are having with Pokémon Champions right now.
The roster is made up of fully-evolved Pokémon only with the exception of Pikachu, he is the mascot of the franchise after all.
While it makes sense from a competitive PvP standpoint it’s something a lot of players are displeased with, and it’s not likely to be fixed anytime soon unfortunately.
Pokémon Champions is now available on the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 as a free download, though its launch has been so disastrous all the free Mystery Gifts in the world might not be able to save it.
