Cyberpunk 2077 2.5 players can turn all cars into a Tesla Roadster with unreal mod

Cyberpunk 2077 has officially launched its surprise 2.5 update, though if you’ll recall, the surprise was spoiled when it leaked before CD Projekt Red could announce it.

Also known as the Cyberpunk: Edgerunner 2 update, it adds some new content inspired by the new anime series, but several quality-of-life improvements have also been snuck in.

For the first time in Cyberpunk 2077, you can dual-wield pistols, which is all this Halo fan needed to hear to get interested in the new update.

Alongside the new gameplay additions, however, comes official mod support for the game. It’s been done in the same way as The Witcher III: Wild Hunt and while it doesn’t support every mod, there’s more than enough included.

The mod we’re talking about today, though, isn’t yet endorsed by CD Projekt Red, but don’t let that dissuade you. It’s called Let There Be Flight and while OG Cyberpunk 2077 players may know it already, there’s bound to be a majority of new players who’ve never heard of it.

Simply put, it makes every vehicle in the game capable of flight. This is something players were hoping would be an official feature when the game debuted, as flying cars are regularly seen cruising over Night City.

Unfortunately, they’re just set dressing. All of the vehicles you drive in the base game are stuck on the ground.

Let There Be Flight fixes that, though and you can see the mod in action via _morijinn’s latest X post.

The video shows the player unsuccessfully piloting a flying car past the skyscrapers and neon signs of Night City.

It understandably got compared to the recently unveiled Tesla Roadster. The company’s latest hijinks include a car that can be propelled into the air via built-in thrusters, and it went viral for the sheer silliness of it. Many speculate it won’t even make it to market, and that the creation is just an elaborate marketing stunt.

Thankfully, the idea makes a bit more sense in Cyberpunk 2077, making this mod a must for any new playthrough of the game.

Hopefully Cyberpunk 2 makes flying cars an official feature, though by the time it’s out we’ll probably have flying cars in real life too…

How Cyberpunk 2077’s official mod support works

While Bethesda promotes mods through its own Creation Club store, CD Projekt Red elected to simply showcase approved mods through the game’s main menu.

All you need to do is have a CD Projekt Red account and link it to Mod.io before finding a mod or two that you like.

Once you’ve made your selection, it’s as simple as pressing install and making sure it’s enabled. The game will do all the rest and when you next boot up your playthrough, your game will have changed.

Again, most mods won’t be available through the game’s main menu and what you’ll have access to will depend on your platform.

PC players will get the largest selection of mods, whereas those on Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch 2 will have to make do with whatever they’re given.
