Fallout’s second season has drawn to a close, delivering a satisfying finale that sets us up nicely for a brand new journey.
It’s clear that a third season will take viewers to Colorado, possibly adapting one of the Fallout franchise’s strangest video games in the process.
What left fans a tad underwhelmed was a lack of video game reveal to coincide with the end of the season.
Many were convinced that a countdown online was tied to the shadowdrop of either a Fallout 3 or Fallout: New Vegas remaster.

Alas, the countdown simply unlocked a virtual and explorable version of House’s penthouse.
You don’t have to give up on your hopes of playing a Fallout 3 remaster though.
Fallout 3 Remastered Remains in Development, A New Report Confirms
By all accounts, the project is real; it’s just not set to arrive anytime soon.
It’s The Verge’s Alex Warren who made reference to a Fallout 3 remaster in a large report detailing Xbox’s 2026 plans.
If you want to see more from GAMINGbible, make us a preferred source on Google.
Warren simply stated that “the game is still in active development”.
“I understand Bethesda is keen to ensure it’s as well polished as the surprise release of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered last year,” he added.

As such, it doesn’t exactly sound like Fallout 3 Remastered will arrive within 2026.
I hate to say it folks, but we could be looking at a 2027 launch there.
Funnily enough, Prime Video’s Fallout is targeting a 2027 return for its third season, so perhaps we can simply bring back the countdown/shadowdrop theory then.
This isn’t to say that it’ll be a quiet year for Xbox. Warren outlined plenty of other plans in motion.
Forza Horizon 6 is, as we know, set to arrive on 19 May, with Halo Campaign Evolved reportedly aiming for a summer release.
Gears of War: E-Day then occupies the fall/autumn slot, although Warren points out that Xbox won’t want it to clash with GTA VI in November.
Double Fine’s Kiln will arrive in April with new Starfield content also expected in the coming months. The game’s PS5 port release date seemingly leaked online just yesterday.
In the hardware department, it’s thought that Xbox will launch a new controller this year - and no, I don’t just mean a new colour scheme.
The controller will reportedly be wi-fi enabled to make for easier use when cloud streaming.
Let’s not forget that Todd Howard did surface on the Fallout front yesterday, confirming Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition’s upcoming launch on Nintendo Switch 2.
I do appreciate Bethesda’s efforts to satiate our demand but my goodness, I just wish Fallout 5 didn’t remain an intangible dream.
