Fallout: New Vegas players can now download a massive free overhaul of the graphics which dramatically improves textures without looking too different from vanilla.
While we believe the older Fallout games are some of the best games you can play of their time, the graphics leave a lot to be desired by 2026 standards.
Texture packs and mods released over the years have done a great job of revamping the look of these games to resemble something more modern, though they've often done so at the cost of venturing further away from the art style of the vanilla game.
Fallout: New Vegas modder nopoPak aims to change this with their latest mod, Interior Textures Overhaul which does exactly that.
Advert
As the name of the mod implies, the new content remasters some of the textures of Fallout: New Vegas' interior cells to have much higher fidelity textures, all while not venturing too far from the art style of the original game.
However, it's still a work in progress right now as there are a lot of textures in the game, and nopoPak has said "I'm not sure if I'll have the time or motivation to update it regularly."
With that in mind, they have decided to upload the mod as it currently stands, and update it over time when they're able to.

Fallout: New Vegas' vanilla textures feel a lot more outdated compared to this mod
As for what content is included with the mod, nopoPak has retextured several areas already. Out of the list, the main areas which have been affected include Goodsprings, Hoover Dam and the hotel casinos from inside New Vegas itself.
Other areas which use shared textures have also had new content added, such as caves, offices, and metros, as well as industrial and facility buildings. Miscellaneous objects such as utility and clutter textures have also been replaced.
That's already quite a fair bit done, but there's still a ways to go with plenty of other textures available for a remaster.

In terms of how these textures have been facelifted, nopoPak says that single textures have received 2K resolution, while shared textures get 4K resolution.
They also recommend to use it with their other mod, Landscape Textures Overhaul, which does the same thing but for exterior cells such as the Nevada Wasteland and the streets in Freeside and the New Vegas strip.
In addition to Fallout: New Vegas, nopoPak has also made texture mods for Fallout 4, Crimson Desert, Cyberpunk 2077, Starfield, and both Red Dead Redemption games.
If you'd like to check out Interior Textures Overhaul, you can download it now from the Fallout: New Vegas page on Nexus Mods.
