Fallout 4 first-person overhaul is the free fix the game's long been overdue
A free Fallout 4 first-person mod is available now that overhauls the gameplay and combat to make the popular Bethesda RPG feel more immersive than ever before.
Alongside Bethesda’s other hugely popular RPG franchise, The Elder Scrolls, the post-apocalyptic Fallout series is regarded as one of the most beloved video game properties of all time, and for good reason.
Since the franchise debuted in 1997, long before Bethesda acquired the rights, Fallout has delivered a string of critically acclaimed games that have captivated generations of players and built a passionate fanbase that remains as strong as ever.
Free Fallout 4 mod makes the Bethesda RPG even more immersive

To address the elephant in the room, yes, you can already play Fallout 4 in a first-person perspective, and just like Fallout 3, players can also choose a third-person perspective. However, what this free mod does is make Fallout 4 feel more like a natively developed first-person experience - which means no more weird floating arms.

“Fallout 4’s vanilla first-person shows a pair of floating arms. This mod replaces that with a true first-person perspective where your player character’s full body is rendered and visible in first person,” reads the description of the mod.
“Look down, and you’ll see your body, legs, clothing and equipped gear as part of the same character you see in third-person. Your perspective also stays in first-person during interactions that would normally force the camera out, such as workstations, power armour, etc. The third-person is unaffected.”

Is the Fallout 4 ‘True First Person’ mod available on consoles?
Sadly not, despite Xbox featuring extensive Bethesda mods. PlayStation does have mods for Fallout 4, but it’s much less extensive than on Xbox. Whereas Nintendo Switch 2 has no mod support whatsoever.
It states on the ‘True First Person’ mod page: “This mod will not be available on Bethesda.net for console users.”
One of the reasons this mod is not playable on Xbox is that it requires specific plugins that are only available on PC. So for non-PC gamers, we’ll just have to enjoy Fallout 4 as originally intended, which isn't such a bad thing.
Fallout 4 is out now on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch 2. It’s also included with an Xbox Game Pass subscription, as well as currently being included in PS Plus Extra and Premium.
