Stardew Valley, Pokémon Collide in New Steam Game You Can Try Free

Try it before the next update

Stardew Valley is getting another major content update, so while you’re waiting for it to drop, check out this charming Steam title with a twist.

The next Stardew Valley update is currently in the works though there’s been no indication of what it’ll bring to the game.

If you’re looking for something to play in the meantime, Echoes Of Vasteria has a similar vibe, as well as similarities to Pokémon, and is free to play on Steam right now.

Echoes Of Vasteria’s description reads: “Guide (and mostly watch) Caleb—the ever-marching hero—in a pixel-art auto-adventure that fuses idle-incremental depth with side-scrolling action. Complete tasks, harvest loot, and let the game’s rich graphs and stats tell the story of your endless run.”

That’s right, unlike other games in the genre Echoes Of Vasteria essentially plays itself, with the player just having to decide what your character’s next move is rather than control it yourself.

Attacking enemies, mining for materials, chopping down trees, all of it is done automatically which is an interesting switch-up.

The Pokémon comparisons mainly come from its pixel-art style, which Pokémon games unfortunately don’t use anymore due to the shift to fully 3D graphics, a shame because visually the older games look far better than the latest releases.

While Echoes Of Vasteria isn’t a free game there is a free demo to try, though the full game only costs around a fiver, so not much harm done if you buy it and decide you don’t like it.

That said, that’s what demos are for so be sure to give it a go and see if it’s for you or not. Given its automatic nature I’d imagine it won’t appeal to everyone but it’s worth a shot.

What else are you going to do while waiting for the next big Stardew Valley update.
