Fans concerned GTA VI’s actual gameplay won’t look as good as the trailer can relax, an ex-Rockstar dev has promised it’ll be legit.

It’s been a big week for Grand Theft Auto fans. After many months of waiting, an official trailer dropped a day earlier than planned due to an unfortunate leak, but we’re not complaining.

The trailer blew us all away, showing off what’ll likely be the most impressive open-world Rockstar Games has ever developed. Graphics and detail look extraordinarily realistic, with Florida fans saying it’s almost exactly like their home. While the game will be set in the new and improved Vice City, players will seemingly have an entire US state to explore too.

However, some believed the game looked “too good,” and are now concerned the actual gameplay won’t live up to expectations. Fear not though, as an ex-Rockstar dev has confirmed GTA VI will look just as good in gameplay as it does in cutscenes.

This news came from Mike York, who previously worked as an animator for Rockstar Games on GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2. York broke down the new trailer for GTA VI in a YouTube video, and gave some insight into what the design process for Rockstar games is like and what fans can expect from the full release.

York confirmed the game’s jaw-dropping cutscenes are “all done in-game.” He went on to say “If you see that building way in the back, you can go to that building, you can climb it, you can jump off it.”

He finished off his remarks by confirming “This game is very elaborate. That’s why it takes them so long to make.”

A promising update, and hopefully one that quells any fears fans have of their setting their expectations too high.

The only thing missing now is a release date. Rockstar has coyly said 2025 but hasn’t gone into any more detail than that.
