GTA 6's open world is almost too realistic, say Florida residents

GTA 6 fans are impressed by just how spot-on the game's depiction of Florida is.

GTA VI is already being dubbed ‘Florida: The Game’ by fans who live in the US state, thanks to its spot-on depiction of the location.

After a decade-long wait, GTA VI’s first trailer has finally landed. Yes, it was due to be released today but a leak resulted in a last-minute change of plan. Graphically, GTA VI might just be the most impressive game we’ve ever seen, based on the 91 seconds of footage available anyway. Fans are full of praise for the title already, particularly the fact that the franchise hasn’t lost its sense of humour. Jason and Lucia are confirmed to be our two lead protagonists and just like the leaks suggested, GTA VI is indeed set in Vice City, based on real-life Miami, Florida. Residents of the real locale can tell that devs did their research.

Over on Reddit, fans gathered to discuss just how uncanny the depiction of Florida is. “Florida: The Game, and in the best possible way,” joked Reddit user inaccurateTempedesc, while Triftxy added, “I like how the trailer includes typical Florida shenanigans like an alligator in a pool or a guy jumping on top of his moving car or a girl on top of a car in a highway.” I can’t say I’ve been to Florida to verify whether these indeed are typical shenanigans, but I do know it has a lot of gators so I’ll accept it.

InspiredSquish wrote, “As a Floridian, this game is literally every other Tuesday for me.” Offering another point of view, whatnameisnttaken098 said, “As someone who has driven through Miami a handful of times for work, I can't wait to take a rocket launcher to traffic.” Drastic measures but traffic can be awful.

While GTA VI’s pricing hasn’t been confirmed, industry analysts are confident that it’ll be far more reasonable than leakers originally suggested. Unfortunately, the game isn’t scheduled to release on PC initially, with only Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 confirmed as platforms.
