A new report has suggested the possibility of Grand Theft Auto VI source code being out in the wild.

As reported by prominent Rockstar commentator Ben, better known by their online handle videotechuk, Rockstar Games leaker Arion Kurtaj has allegedly got access to a mobile phone despite his hospital order.

Kurtaj, who was a key member of the cybercrime hacker organisation known as Lapsus$, is currently serving an indefinite sentence under the Mental Health Act.

Lapsus$ is a group that has previously targeted companies like Uber, Nvidia, and Microsoft. Its 2022 hack of Rockstar Games is probably its most prolific though, costing the company £1.2m and thousands of hours in employee hours.

New Messages Shared By GTA VI Hacker Imply The Source Code Is Still Out There

Now, videotechuk reports that Kurtaj has allegedly had access to a mobile phone while serving his sentence, and that WhatsApp chats being shared on the internet may suggest that source code for GTA VI is still in the hands of another person.

“While I won’t share screenshots of the WhatsApp chats (I’m sure they’ll appear soon), Arion appeared surprised that the source code for Grand Theft Auto VI did not leak and seemed to imply that the source code may potentially be in the hands of someone,” reports videotechuk.

A follow-up post also shares some of the messages allegedly sent between Kurtaj and two other parties.

A user going by the name of ‘Omar’ says: “Damn wait that means GTA 6 is out there somewhere too”.

Kurtaj responds with “Definitely somewhere” and follows up with “did the source not get leaked?”.

Another user then says that “5 leaked, 6 not”, implying that the source code for GTA VI, at least as of four years ago, may still be in the hands of another individual connected to the Rockstar Games leak that occurred in 2022.

Consider this a possible spoiler warning for GTA VI, which may yet suffer another breach in the future should the source code be made public.

Rockstar Games is set to release GTA VI on 19 November, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

The game was previously supposed to be out in 2025, but was then delayed twice before settling on the 19 November release date.
