Grand Theft Auto VI’s third trailer is still yet to arrive, but eagle-eyed fans believe it’ll drop today, 23 July, after spotting a clear clue.

Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick previously revealed that Rockstar Games would kick off the game’s final marketing push in summer, and July is definitely the height of summer.

As such, fans have been going through the motions on a near-daily basis wondering if each day is the day that GTA VI’s next trailer will arrive, only to be met with a GTA Online or Red Dead Online update from Rockstar’s socials.

That may be about to change though, as Rockstar Games has not posted to bilibili today.

Bilibili is China’s most popular social media platform and given the time difference, Rockstar Games’ social posts appear there quite a number of hours before they land on Twitter/X for the rest of the world.

Due to this, we usually know when a GTA Online or Red Dead Online post is coming.

On occasion, however, Rockstar Games skips posting to bilibili and this is typically because whatever post they have planned needs issuing at a precise time worldwide.

It’s the type of behaviour we saw ahead of GTA VI’s pre-orders going live and now that bilibili is missing a post today, gamers are theorising that it may mean that trailer three is on the way in a few hours time.

“Trailer three today?” asked Reddit user Rsodyyy. “No post on bilibili, five weeks since the cover reveal, and four weeks to the day of pre-orders opening.”

Of course, this is just a theory. An absent bilibili post hasn’t resulted in major news on every occasion, so do take this all with a pinch of salt.

That being said, Rockstar Games has a penchant for Tuesdays and Thursdays when it comes to announcements, for whatever reason, and today is the latter.

“Or next week which is a week before earnings,” -PANORAMIX- replied.

“IT HAS TO LETS F**KING GO BOYS,” added Electronic-Joke-4785.

“It would be insane and very surprising if they go the whole of July without absolutely nothing,” the OP said.

Trailer 3 would put GTA VI back on track with fans after a rocky few months

It’s not been a totally smooth ride for GTA VI as of late.

Rockstar Games caused a stir when it revealed that GTA VI would not be sold as a true physical copy, instead being offered either digitally or as a code in a box.

In fact, several US retailers boycotted sales of the game, revealing that they wouldn’t stock the boxes as they don’t want to provide customers with what clearly isn’t a true physical copy.

GTA VI’s pricing seemed to go down well, with the base version costing £69.99 / $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition setting you back £89.99 / $99.99.

That latter version eventually drew criticism, though, for locking story content, missions, and shops behind a paywall rather than the usual meaningless cosmetics.

Rockstar Games

Rockstar Games and PlayStation have also partnered to market GTA VI as playing “best on PS5” with PlayStation even changing its logo on socials to one that reflected GTA VI’s branding.

That was soon set back to normal though after PlayStation began to receive heavy backlash for its recently announced decision to stop producing physical games from January 2028.

Considering Rockstar was already under fire for its lack of physical copies, it likely didn’t want to be dragged any further into the mess as the backlash against PlayStation now continues several weeks on.

Perhaps with the launch of trailer three, Rockstar Games will be able to put this turbulent period behind it as the true countdown to launch day begins.
