A Hogwarts Legacy player has stumbled on a completely new feature that was seemingly cut from the game.

Hogwarts Legacy is without a doubt one of the most popular video games to release this year and with over 406 million hours (and counting) put into the game, fans of the Wizarding World just can’t get enough.

Set in the School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Hogwarts Legacy lets the players live out their Harry Potter dreams like never before. Its world is vast with secrets to uncover, interesting characters, as well as fun gameplay and it looks pretty darn good too. However, it's not without some flaws and missed opportunities.

For starters, we still can’t pause cutscenes, which is a frustrating oversight, especially when you’re river dancing to the loo. What’s more, players are also desperate to see co-op multiplayer or at the very least, AI companions to adventure with.

Thankfully, due to some very talented modders, they are hard at work bringing multiplayer to Hogwarts Legacy, albeit, unofficially. Still, it’s probably the best we’re going to get for now.

As reported by Dexerto, another mod that is bringing a much-requested fan feature is one that adds companions. Yet it seems that while working on the companion mod, it’s been discovered that Hogwarts Legacy has hidden dialogue lines that could imply that developers of Avalanche Studios were at some point thinking of including AI companions in the game.

Clips featuring various cut dialogue lines were shared by TikTok user ‘miss_soapy’ during the side missions, ‘Ghost of Our Love’ and ‘Well, Well, Well’.

We can only speculate as to why companions were cut from the game. The easiest assumption to make could be due to restricted development time to reach a deadline for a game that has suffered multiple delays.

Could we see companions introduced in an upcoming update or DLC? That’s probably unlikely. Other than some quality-of-life improvements, the game we have now will likely remain as it is. That’s not to say that companions might be implemented into new story DLC if that were to happen.

If I was to take a guess, I’d say that companions would be more likely in a Hogwarts Legacy sequel. Thankfully, if that were the case, at least we have talented PC modders bringing us unofficial content to tide us over.
