Hogwarts Legacy players have put in a whopping 406 million hours (and counting) into the game so far. It’s all about those stonks.

When Hogwarts Legacy was released in February 2023, it quickly became a strong contender for Game of the Year. Of course, we’re very early into the year, but we’re sure this action RPG will be thereabouts as we edge closer to 2024.

Over the years, we have seen many Harry Potter games inspired by the Wizarding World. Sadly, it's been a mixed bag of magical tricks, to say the least. For the most part, the video game adaptations have been a miss. Though to be fair, we did get PS1 Hagrid, so it's not all doom and gloom.

Hogwarts Legacy has scored between 83 to 88 on Metacritic from critics depending on the platform. However, in most cases, scores have been registered even higher from user reviews.

The overwhelmingly positive user scores are certainly being reflected in the number of hours put into the game so far. The incredible numbers were shared on social media via the Hogwarts Legacy channels.

“Merlin's beard! An enormous THANK YOU to everyone who has shared in the magic of Hogwarts Legacy” tweeted the official Twitter account.

In the tweet, it not only revealed that at the time of writing, over 406 million players have explored the halls of Hogwarts, but 674 magical plants have been grown, 405 potions have been brewed and 2.25 billion players have defeated Dark Wizards.

Considering we’re only a few months into the year so far, it will be interesting to see those Hogwarts Legacy numbers on 10 February 2024, a full year from its initial launch.

Hogwarts Legacy is out now for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. It will then release for PS4 and Xbox One on 5 May 2023, followed by the Nintendo Switch on 25 July.
