The life of a wizard or witch at Hogwarts is filled with dangers, and much of the time, players who venture out into the wizarding world will need to align themselves with good or evil to survive.
Hogwarts Legacy players, when they reach the end of the game, will essentially opt for the good or bad, embracing goodness, or giving themselves over to the wickedness.
This is represented by binary endings - good or evil - and while many will go with the best thing for their character, some wish that there was a third, alternative ending.
In the Hogwarts Legacy Reddit, one player brings up this possibility to the others in a thread, saying, “I had to go with the 'good ending' because obviously I’m not wanting to do anything evil with this dark power.”

They continue, “I would’ve used it not to control it, but so the power will die with me [...] I wish this middle ground solution was an option in the game, because that’s something I would’ve chosen if given the chance. Heck…. GTAV had a third option.”
It’s odd to not have a middle path, one that balances the choice, or embraces both options.
Other players seemingly feel the same, with one commenting, “I chose the middle option to release it into the world, and it gave me the bad ending. It didn’t seem fitting to the option I chose, and it would be cool to see a middle ground ending.”
They aren’t alone in their thinking, as most of the subreddit would prefer to have a third option to cap off the story.

Another Redditor said, “I agree there should have been a third option or middle ground. Hogwarts Legacy's main story was painfully linear & offered no opposition against FORCING the player down the writer's vision.”
As with any RPG, players get so invested in their character that they want an ending that suits the role they played, and here, the game misses that mark.
