I see we’ve entered ‘Fools Spring Number 2’, right before we’re pushed back into the third winter. I’m sitting in the boiling GAMINGbible office in a jumper, more fool me.

Welcome back to Save State - GAMINGbible's daily round-up of all things gaming news, culture and gaming fandom, with all the stories from the last 24 hours you might’ve missed.

First up today, I want to draw your attention to Pokémon Eternal Emerald, an awesome fan-made Pokémon game released on Tuesday with over 900 Pokémon available! We love awesome Pokemon fan games, and this might be one of the best.

It’s got an epic story, inspired by the best Pokémon games - Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. Yes, you can fight me on that.

In Pokémon Eternal Emerald, the Hoenn region is unstable and the Mossdeep Space Center has detected a massive meteorite heading toward the planet, with a matter of weeks to go.

It retells the story of the original Game Boy Advance game, where the balance between Kyogre and Groudon breaks down, but adds extra content from Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, as well as adding all the quality of life changes from the newer Pokémon Games.

This remake also introduces an entirely new villainous team and their mysterious motivations connected to Rayquaza, as well as the return of Z-moves. Neat!

With new remastered music, secret bases, a new Sound type and new modes built in, this is definitely one I’ll be checking out on my Steam Deck this weekend.

The PS3 lives with an unexpected 2026 update

Our second story you might've missed is a bit of a nostalgic throwback. While the PS4 is dead in the water, the PlayStation 3 has just received another update, almost one year after its last one.

Despite the PS3 nearing its 20th birthday, Sony is keeping it on life-support going with a mysterious 4.93 update, which is now live. There’s not much information to go on, just like the last four updates.

The patch "improves system performance". That’s it. Don’t ask us how, or why, there’s no more publicly available information. It’s likely this is to stop people from jailbreaking their PS3s. I can’t wait until next year, when we get the fifth "improves system performance" PS3 update in a row.

I still have my PS3, but I can't say I'm rushing home to update this time. I will be claiming this major PS5 refund, though.

Crimson Desert gets exciting launch update, just in time

Moving on from the past, and looking to the future. Pearl Abyss has locked in a simultaneous global release for Crimson Desert on 19 March, with pre-loads live and file sizes confirmed across all platforms. After seven years of development and bunches of hype, Crimson Desert is nearly here. Even though some fans have got physical copies early, no dice. Pearl Abyss has committed to a simultaneous launch - no staggered rollout, no region getting access hours before another, and crucially, no spoilers! Crimson Desert launches at 3PM PT across all platforms, and we’ve converted all the times and regions for the launch here.

If you missed it, we covered the required specs, and it's bad news for Xbox fans.

Hollow Knight: Silksong gets "significant" patch before new update

And finally, last but not least - a cheeky Hollow Knight: Silksong update I've barely seen anybody discuss. Team Cherry has confirmed that Hollow Knight: Silksong will get a ‘significant’ patch before the launch of its nautical-themed Sea of Sorrow expansion later this year.

Version 1.0.29926, its full Government name, fixes a few annoying bugs and adds two language updates. Great news for anyone looking to play in Traditional Chinese. In addition, the German translation has been refined to improve clarity and consistency with English. It's not likely to fix why some fans aren't vibing with it, though.

The patch is live right now for PC players, with the update rolling out to consoles ‘soon’

The rest of the patch notes are as follows:

  • Allowed Silk Soar through top scene exits.
  • Fixed various instances of specific enemies being able to get stuck out of bounds.
  • Fixed various instances of Hornet being able to be pulled out of bounds by enemies.
  • Fixed Last Judge's death explosion doing 3 damage (now 2).
  • Magma Bell now protects against all fire-type explosions.
  • Fixed another instance of Shrine Guardian Seth being able to push Hornet through a wall.
  • Fixed an instance of Lace (Cradle) getting out of bounds. Also various small fixes to prevent some rare, odd behaviours during the fight.
  • Fixed certain tools unintentionally being down-bounceable in specific instances.
  • Fixed Border Caves bounce-pods giving Silk & Health for certain Crests.
  • Fixed Snitch Pick not doing its 3rd hit of damage when in a memory.
  • Fixed issues with Wood Wasp colliders sometimes lingering longer than intended or not reactivating on respawn.
  • Fixed Choruses in Underworks not playing their full Needolin text.
  • Fixed an instance of Thread Rakers being able to get stuck out of bounds.
  • Savage Beastfly's summoned minions now die when the boss is killed.
  • Far Fields Savage Beastfly is now stunned when hit by the hanging bomb rock.
  • Fixed an instance of tool quantity not updating correctly when unequipping Shell Satchel.
  • Fixed a rare instance of Lavalugs getting frozen in place.
  • Fixed fast travel unintentionally clearing Hunter focus.
  • Various minor fixes and tweaks.

Right, I’m off to pre-load Crimson Desert. See you tomorrow for your next Save State round up!
