Bloodborne could have been so much more than what Sony made of it, but at least it sort of lives on through its spiritual successor.
We’re into 2026 now which not only means we’re back in the same year as Grand Theft Auto VI’s launch window but we’re also in the same year as The Duskbloods’ too.
While it’s not my most-anticipated game of 2026 as a FromSoftware fan it’s definitely in my top five, and number one for my most-anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 games. However that right there is the biggest problem, it’s a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive so I worry that it won’t be played by as many as we’d hope.
The Duskbloods’ marks the first time that FromSoftware and Nintendo have partnered up, and if you told that was going to be a thing a few years ago I’d have called you crazy.

It’s a PvPvE game, which isn’t my favourite type of game to play but I’m willing to give it a go for the aesthetic alone.
The Duskbloods’ looks like the closest we’ll get to an official Bloodborne sequel, and I’m hoping it’s popular enough to push Sony into bringing the PlayStation exclusive to PC, or at least give it a PlayStation 5 upgrade.

While not exactly the same as last year’s Elden Ring: Nightreign should give players a taste of what’s to come, as many felt like it was a test for The Duskbloods to see how players would react to something different to the usual FromSoftware soulsborne formula. I’d argue it was a success and while I’d still prefer to play standard Elden Ring I’d be down for more spin-offs like it in the future, maybe a Dark Souls one set at the peak of the Age of Fire.
Back to Bloodborne 2.0 though, The Duskbloods launches sometime this year but at the time of writing an exact release date hasn’t been shared.
I’m guessing we’ll have to wait until the next Nintendo Direct, though it could also be announced during one of the Partner Showcases too.
If I was a betting man I’d predict it’ll be launching over the Summer, but that’s pure speculation on my part.
Nevertheless I’m incredibly excited to jump in and play when it’s ready, but I am curious to see if partnering with Nintendo will hurt the game in the long-run, as there are still a lot of Nintendo fans who don’t yet own a Nintendo Switch 2, and there definitely won’t be a PC port.
